Regarding the Extension of Temporary Residence Permits (TRP) for Third-Country Nationals in Lithuania

We would like to emphasize the importance of not missing the deadlines for submitting documents to the Migration Department. Since the review of applications may take several months, we strongly encourage planning everything in advance.

  1. General Information

* A temporary residence permit can be extended for no longer than 2 years.

* The permit may be issued for a shorter period if the passport is valid for a shorter time. It is recommended to renew the passport before submitting the extension application.

  1. What a foreign national must do before the permit expires:

* Inform their employer that the permit is about to expire.

* Start preparing the documents at least 2–3 months before the expiration date. It is recommended to start the process even earlier — 4–6 months in advance, as the Migration Department takes a long time to review applications.

  1. How documents are submitted to the Migration Department:

* Documents are submitted only through the MIGRIS system: www.migracija.lt.

* Login requires identity verification codes sent to the email address provided to the Migration Department.

Important: keep your email address and login credentials safe. If you do not have them or have forgotten them, you will need to register separately for a visit to the Migration Office to correct your data.

* You can also log in via the electronic government gateway using a mobile signature, Smart ID, or code generator.

  1. State Fee:

* Standard procedure – 160 EUR

* Urgent procedure – 320 EUR

Payment is made upon arrival at the Migration Department. Make sure your account has sufficient funds.

  1. Required Documents for Permit Extension:

* Completed application via the MIGRIS system. * Copy of the passport (passport must be valid for at least 2 years).

* Mediation letter from the employer (submitted via MIGRIS).

* Questionnaire listing all workplaces since graduation, education, and military service (applicable to citizens of Russia and Belarus).
